Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temples
In the United States, Higashi Honganji temples are located on the U.S. mainland and Hawaii.
Our educational and publishing division is Shinshu Center of America.
Higashi Honganji Buddhist temples follow a Buddhist tradition called Jodo Shinshu, or “True Essence of Pure Land Buddhism,” and is affiliated with the Shinshu Otani-ha denomination, based in Kyoto, Japan.
Otani University is Higashi Honganji’s primary undergraduate and graduate institution.
In addition, several temples are located in Brazil.
